Producer Michael Latt’s Final Film ‘Hoops, Hopes & Dreams’ Hitting Sundance: “Michael Was Our Point Guard”

The nonprofit was formed in the wake of Latt's death to support creatives whose work hits the sweet spot of what Latt held dear in his own life: culture, advocacy, social impact and community transformation.

“If I Go Will They Miss Me,” a coming-of-age drama that premiered at Sundance Film Festival, has landed at indie distributor Rich Spirit.

Students from City Honors Preparatory Academy and Inglewood High School joined the Los Angeles Clippers at the Intuit Dome for an early screening of the short film "Hoops, Hopes & Dreams." The film explores how King and Obama used basketball as a unifier, especially with young people.

Michael was the best of us. Someone who believed fundamentally that community was important for its own sake, that culture can change the world, that - if this was true - undersupported artists in particular deserved particular support.

Andscape, the Black-led media platform owned by The Walt Disney Company, has acquired “Hoops, Hopes & Dreams,” a short documentary that premiered at Sundance Film Festival. It also received the best documentary short award at the 2025 Cleveland International Film Festival.
